Squirrel Hill Community Food Pantry

We offer supplemental food and the supportive services needed to regain stability and self-sufficiency.

Since our inception, the Squirrel Hill Community Food Pantry has provided a safety net to the hungry and food insecure in the 15217 zip code area without regard to race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, place of birth, sex, sexual orientation, familial status, age, handicap or disability.  Our goal is to ensure food security and help individuals achieve as much self-sufficiency and independence as possible. We do so by supplying emergency and supplemental food and direct social service and resource coordination, often acting as an entry point to other needed social, psychological, employment and government services.

With the assistance of an army of committed community volunteers and the support of a cadre of donors and other partners, we are privileged to serve those who do not have enough resources to feed themselves and their families.

For those who are kosher, the Va’ad HaRabanim of Pittsburgh advises SHCFP with respect to the kosher food certification necessary to properly serve Pantry clients who keep kosher. Because we are the only food pantry in Southwestern Pennsylvania committed to meeting the needs of those who keep kosher homes, SHCFP also serve those outside the 15217 zip code area who qualify for food assistance and require kosher food.
