Every day, hundreds of individuals and families in our community struggle to meet their basic nutritional needs. You can make a difference right now.
We rely on monetary donations to purchase kosher food from wholesalers, distributors and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank (where we are a member agency and able to purchase what we can at significant discount).
Your gift can bring immediate relief and hope to a family or individual who is suffering from hunger. The Squirrel Hill Community Food Pantry has many giving options to meet the interests of our community of supporters.
- We make giving easy by enabling you to make tax-deductible cash
gifts online or by mailing your gift to the Squirrel
Hill Community Food Pantry at 828 Hazelwood Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA
15217.
- One-time and recurring gifts can be made to our annual fund or designated to the fresh produce initiative.
- Send tribute cards are available in honor of lifecycle events such as births, bar/bat mitzvahs, confirmations, birthdays or other special occasions, as get-well messages to those who are ill or in memory of those who have died. We'll send a beautiful tribute card acknowledging your gift to whomever you specify.
- Rent beautiful food baskets, in lieu of flowers, as celebration centerpieces. Click here for the order form.
- It's easy and convenient to transfer stock or other securities in support of the Squirrel Hill Community Food Pantry. You can avoid taxes associated with the sale of appreciated stock and help others at the same time. We ask that you or your broker call us to inform us of your intention to make a stock gift to the Squirrel Hill Community Food Pantry. We can give you the information you need to do so and also monitor the progress of the transaction and acknowledge your gift accurately and appropriately upon its completion. Call or email Laurie Gottlieb at 412.586.3738 for specific instructions.
- Other giving options include planned giving options such as endowment, bequests, life insurance and in-kind gifts. Please email Squirrel Hill Community Food Pantry director Becky Abrams or call her at 412.421.2708 for more information.
- Whether you bring a box of groceries to the Food Pantry;
organize a food drive in your workplace, place of worship or
community group; ask your friends to make a donation to the
Squirrel Hill Commnity Food Pantry in lieu of a birthday gift or in
honor of a special occasion; or drop a few cans in one of our
Squirrel Hill Community Food Pantry collection barrels, you can
know your donation is put to immediate use feeding the hungry in
our community. We gladly accept non-perishable food donations and
personal care items at the Pantry. Click here for Pantry hours.
